Our Collaboration with

National Geographic

ngst-logo_black-yellow

Beginning in 2007, National Geographic and Putney Student Travel have collaborated to offer an array of unique programs designed to engage high school and middle school students with themes central to the missions and initiatives of the National Geographic Society. Destinations and itineraries are designed to fuel students’ innate curiosity in the world and create the next generation of explorers. Students join experienced trip leaders and National Geographic Explorers in the field, and through a selected On Assignment project learn the skills and tools utilized by storytellers and Explorers.

Go On Assignment

On Assignment themes such as Photography, Marine Biology, Wildlife Conservation, Anthropology, and more help narrow the focus of the experience and allow students to dive deeper into their surroundings. As students explore, they create a tangible project to take back home, allowing them to share their passion and what they have learned with others.

Inspire Your Inner Explorer

Whichever On Assignment theme you choose, you will join a growing community of individuals who are curious about the world around them. You will leave your program with a roadmap, ready to pursue bold ideas, engage others, and inspire action. And you’ll find role models in your National Geographic Explorers and trip leaders, who are photographers, writers, scientists, and educators pursuing careers that help to make the world a better place.

Travel with Experts

National Geographic Explorers join each of our programs. They are researchers, explorers, and storytellers who have pursued their passions and become leaders in their fields and who receive funding and support from the National Geographic Society to illuminate and protect our world. And every one of our trips is guided by experienced program leaders who are knowledgeable in their fields and passionate about sharing their love of travel with students.
